Full Shutdown In Turkey

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey will go to full shutdown period as of 29 April evening.

Erdogan said that an uninterrupted curfew will be applied until 05:00 on May 17.

Erdogan made a statement after the cabinet meeting held today, “We are going to complete closure starting from 19:00 on Thursday, April 29, 2021, and lasting until 05:00 on Monday, May 17, 2021. During this period, a continuous curfew will be applied.”

What are the new restrictions?
  • According to Erdogan’s statements, the new regulations are as follows:
  • All workplaces will suspend their activities, except for organizations that are exempted in areas such as production, manufacturing, food, cleaning and health, specified in the circular of the Ministry of Interior.
  • In the food and beverage industry, only take-away service will be available.
  • All intercity travels will be subject to permission.
  • Intercity public transport vehicles will be able to operate at 50 percent capacity.
  • Reservations at accommodation facilities will not be an exception to curfews and intercity travel restrictions.
  • Face-to-face education will be suspended in all institutions, including kindergarten, nursery, 8th and 12th grades.
  • All exams will be postponed.
  • Chain markets will be closed on Sundays, and will continue to serve at specified times on other days.
  • Personnel in public institutions that will continue their services will be directed to work remotely or alternately.
  • Remote staff members will also be subject to a curfew.

Erdogan added that the necessary arrangements will be made in order for those working in the agricultural sector to carry out their activities in accordance with epidemic measures.

The daily number of cases is less than 38.000

Turkey in the last 24 hours While 37 012 new cases of coronavirus, the loss of life was 353.

While there was a rapid increase in the number of cases as of March, the highest number of cases was reached on April 16 with 63,082. It seems that the number of cases has dropped below 60,000, then 50,000 and finally 40,000 for the past week.

The loss of life has been over 300 since April 18.
