Roads

Except metrobus which is very useful but always jam-packed, these transportation vehicles are generally not preferred by people due to the traffic problem of Istanbul.

Detailed information on these means of transportation is given below.

Metrobus

Metrobus, which is the most used public transportation vehicle for city people who want to escape from the sweltering Istanbul traffic, is a system that brings a new approach to passenger transportation that is planned like a rail system and operated as a rail system.

There are a total of 44 stations on the 52 km long metrobus line and the journey takes approximately 83 minutes.

City Bus

City buses, which offer access to every point of Istanbul with more than 800 lines, are not preferred much due to the traffic problem of Istanbul.

Some bus lines operate 24 hours in Istanbul. You can click on the link to get more information about city buses and lines.

Taxi

There are three different taxi segments in Istanbul. Yellow taxis are standard (C segment like Fiat Aegea, Renault Clio etc.), Turquoise Taxis are luxury (D segment like VW Passat, Skoda Superb, Opel Insignia etc.), Black taxis (E segment like Mercedes E180, Mercedes Vito etc.) are VIP.

Ideal for groups of 3 or 4 people, yellow taxis have an opening fee of 5.00 TL and a fee of 3.10 TL per kilometer. The minimum fee to be paid regardless of the distance traveled when taking a taxi is 13 TL. Compared to yellow taxis, the price of Turquoise taxis is 15% and the price of black taxis is twice as much.

There is no difference in taxi fares between day and night.

If you take a taxi in Istanbul, where you can come across malicious taxi drivers from time to time, it will be useful to know the distance you will travel and make sure that the driver opens the taximeter.

If you experience a negative situation on your trips by taxi, you can call 153 and complain to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality White Table.

Yellow Shared Taxi

Yellow shared taxis have a capacity of 8 passengers and are a very useful and economical means of transportation that serve at a fixed price on a fixed route. To use these vehicles, you have to get on at the departure station. Besides, you can get off at any point on the route.
