The historical castle was built by the Genoese for the safety of the strait at the point where the strait opens to the Black Sea. Poyrazköy Castle was under the control of the Byzantines and Ottomans apart from the Genoese in history. The main task of the castle in the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires was to ensure the security of the Bosphorus at the entrance from the Black Sea.

After the historical castle came into the service of the Ottomans, Turks were brought from Trabzon and Rize and settled around the castle and it was ensured that the region became a Turkish homeland.

Poyrazköy, where the Poyraz Castle is located, offers its visitors an ideal environment for those who want to enjoy their leisure in a quiet environment away from the crowds. Visitors come here especially at weekends to have a nice time on the cute little beach of Poyrazköy. Fishermen’s shelter and boats lined up along the coast, purse-seiners and cute village houses on the slopes draw attention.

Before entering Poyrazköy, there is a small beach and beach on the left. This is Poyrazköy beach. The beach, which is not too big, has large and small facilities, restaurants and changing cabins. Since it is a sheltered bay against wind and current, you can swim here. It is also an ideal place for mooring boats and yachts.

There are 3 beaches in Poyrazköy. Two beaches are mixed beaches, and there is also a women-only beach called Poyrazköy Ladies Beach. Poyrazköy is also ideal for a picnic. There is a garden and picnic areas where you can have a daily picnic.

How to Go to Poyraz Castle?

Located on the Anatolian coast of the Bosphorus, Anadolu Hisarı is approximately 33 km from Üsküdar via the New Riva Road and Anadolu Feneri Road. It comes after Beykoz and Anadolu Kavağı on the Black Sea side. The distance between Beykoz pier and Poyrazköy is approximately 14 km.

Those who have private vehicles can easily reach by navigation. About 4 km from Beykoz. then you have to follow the Poyrazköy-Anadolu Feneri sign. After deviating from here, you can reach first Poyrazköy and then Anadolu Feneri by following the narrow and forested road.

The most practical and fastest way to come to Poyrazköy by public transportation is to use the Poyrazköy-Kavacık IETT buses numbered 135 departing from Kavacık. This bus also passes through Beykoz.
